Lake Tahoe with its snow-capped mountains, crystal clear cobalt blue waters and breathtaking panoramic views is definitely a must-see on the bucket list. Whether you’re planning that once in a lifetime solo trip, or an escape to the countryside, Lake Tahoe is a year-round feast for the eyes and the soul. We’ve rounded up our absolute favorite must-see views of Lake Tahoe that are sure to leave you the envy of all Instagram.
Lake Tahoe has so much to offer and with Adventuretects, we’ll make sure you have the perfect itinerary to include all the things you love and enjoy.
1. Capture the Sunrise at Emerald Bay
Emerald Bay with its rugged shoreline, blue-green water, and panoramic view is probably one of the most photographed places in the world. It’s the perfect place to start your trip, as the sunrise colors promise to leave you breathless.
This iconic location is one of local photographer @gabriella_viola’s favorite spots to get the perfect shot! We love this video she made showcasing the beauty of Lake Tahoe and more importantly, how to get that perfect shot!

2. Take in the Beauty along the Sand Harbor to Memorial Point Trail
Lake Tahoe is the perfect destination for all seasons and, for many, autumn or winter is the ideal time to visit. Lake Tahoe is less crowded and there are a ton of winter sports and activities to do. We just love this photo from @naturalcocographics showcasing the winter wonderland.
Sand Harbor to Memorial Point is a short half-mile trail, offering a link to Memorial Point. From here you’ll enjoy stunning views and along the way, you’ll be treated to many secluded beaches and rocky areas – perfect for getting that moment alone to capture the beauty.
3. Explore Chimney Beach and Surrounds
This secluded little beach is off-the-beaten-path and can be a great way to beat the crowds. It’s a bit of a hike, but if you’re willing to take on the half-mile (one way), you’ll be treated to some of the most beautiful scenery Lake Tahoe has to offer.
We’re talking sweeping views of Lake Tahoe, magnificent boulder outcroppings, crystal clear water and a cute little beach with the iconic chimney marker that gives this beach its name.
If you’re looking for that perfect shot, just head a bit south – like Lake Tahoe explorer @mia_whoo did – where you’ll find several sandy beach pockets among the boulders looking back on Chimney Beach.
This short video made by @brentcarlson shows off just how beautiful and serene this area truly is. An absolute must for any traveler!

4. Discover Lake Tahoe’s Secrets
We love the way @mikebrinkmanohotography put it – you can keep your secrets, Lake Tahoe! Secret Cove has stunning lake views, scattered boulders, and aspen-lined shores – the idyllic Lake Tahoe shot. It’s a bit of a hike meaning it’s mostly untouched, and you’ll often have this little spot all to yourself.
It does hold one more secret though, Secret Cove is the only sanctioned nude beach on the eastern Nevada side of Lake Tahoe. So, don’t be surprised to see a few nudists enjoying the sun… and if skinny dipping in Lake Tahoe is on your bucket list… now’s your chance!
5. Going for a drive? Don’t miss Lake Tahoe’s Mt. Rose Scenic Overlook
Offering the most spectacular panoramic views of the cobalt blue lake, this is a must for a road trip around Lake Tahoe. There is an information kiosk along the road marking the overlook, which has some really interesting facts about Lake Tahoe, the surrounding mountain peaks and other points of interest.
It’s hard to miss and you won’t want to!

6. Climb up Cave Rock for a magical sunset
7. The Perfect View! Lake Tahoe from a Hot Air Balloon
We can’t think of a better way to experience the beauty of Lake Tahoe than from a hot air balloon. For @natalia.dzyndra this was a bucket list adventure – and to cross it off over a few hundred feet above the glassy lake surface, completely surrounded by mountains? Yes, please!

Lake Tahoe is one of our absolute favorite places, and with its many gorgeous views, hikes, beaches, summer and winter activities it’s no wonder people keep coming back to this magical place year after year. If it’s your first time visiting, make sure you have Adventuretects plan the perfect itinerary to get the most out of your trip!
